There are mysteries to solve, powerful magical items to find, NPC's galore to interact with, you name it. There are literally HUNDREDS of Quests to complete in this game. After you make past the initial quests the game gradually makes more details available to you, like the fact that you have to eat and now have to start carrying food on you. I wouldn't recommend doing all those though as the guards will lay the smack down on you in town if you break the law too much. You can pick up anything that isn't nailed down, you can rob people, you can go on a murderous rampage and try to kill everyone you meet, you have complete freedom to do whatever you want. By making a game using these old school graphics they were really able to concentrate on Content and details. I've been playing Avernum 6 for the last few nights as Sup Com 2 doesn't have the draw the first one seemed to have on me. The graphics are on par with Ultima Online, so if you can stand playing something like that today, you're in for a real treat. They are same games story wise as the Exile games, but with updated graphics and functionality. Over the years they remade the Exile series and called them "Avernum". These games are made by a very small Indie company called "Spiderweb Software". Here's a pic of the old "Exile" game below. Remember the old "Exile" games? They were these RPG's but the graphics were kind of "stick-figureish". How about finding hidden cities on Ultima 2 or 3? Searching caves for loot in Dragon Warrior? How about some of those old 8 and 16 bit D&D games that were released on the old consoles and played like Story Rich campaigns? Well, I found this cool little game that's actually a re-make of a older series by the same people. Avernum 6 will run natively on Intel Macintoshes.Do you ever miss the OLD Days of computer gaming.1024x768 screen resolution with 32 bit color.Video card or processor with OpenGL support and 32 MB video RAM (64 MB recommended). This game does not work on MacOS 10.15 or later. PC Running Windows 2000 or later or Macintosh running System 10.3.9 to 10.14.Can you save your homeland? And, if Avernum survives, what will become of it? The nation of Avernum is rapidly approaching its final destiny, and you will be at the center of events. And yet, through a run of good (or bad) fortune, you find that you have a chance to discover and confront Avernum's enemies. You had a good, simple reason: Soldiers get food. In the midst of all of this chaos, you joined the army. Now chaos and hunger stalk this land, and none seem to be able to find a solution or a way to stop the Slith Horde. Sensing weakness, they struck, destroying much of a weakened Avernum and creating waves of hungry, desperate refugees. Then the denizens of the low tunnels, the savage, reptilian Slithzerikai, emerged. Almost overnight, the mushrooms Avernum needed to feed itself withered and died. Avernum's sole link to the surface world: a single magical portal, small and difficult to maintain.Īnd then the Blight came. Once a prison colony for rebels and thugs, it is now a wild frontier, full of adventurous souls looking for wealth, fame, and magical power. It is a nation of people living in an enormous warren of tunnels and caverns, far below the surface of the world.
